All Hail The "Prof"
Former South Rushden  full- back , Tim Clark, a member of the club`s original squad, proved that he`s not just a good footballer. His recent GCSE results were startlingly good. Tim managed  8A*s , 3 As and a B, and will go on to study. drama , maths and business at A level. Many congratulations Tim.

Burge is Back

Andy Burgess, Guest of Honour at the club`s recent presentation evening, has returned to his "spiritual" home of Nene Park and has signed a 2 year deal with Rushden & Diamonds after a free tranfer from Oxford United.
We wish Andy  and the Diamonds the best of luck for the coming season.

Party in the Park
Another P in the P, and we were pitched further along than normal, and a bit out of the way. Whether this will have a bearing on our takings this year will be interesting, but the general consensus was that the good folk of Rushden thought long and hard about where they were going to put their pennies, and took a bit of coaxing even to set foot in Hall Park.
The touch rugby generated  some people in the park, and I enjoyed watching Denfield Park, whose ranks were filled mainly by Jets players. They gave it their all, and some of them looked as comfortable with the odd-shaped ball as they do with the proper-shaped one.
Afterwards, the mini-olympics was an all South Rushden affair between the Jets and the Sharks, because the other teams were doing something on the Stage. The contest of running, jumping and throwing was narrowly won by the Jets, but it was good to see Hall Park awash with Navy and Scarlet, so it`ll raise the club`s profile further.

Some old friends sauntered up to have a go at the penalty shoot out, original squad members Craig Fortescue (goalkeeper) and left-back Tim Clark had a go, but our keepers,Rob D`Amore and Lee Harman were in outstanding form , even better than last year, so well done and thank you to you both. If we do n`t have two good keepers on the stall we simply do n`t have a competition, it`s a simple as that.

Big thanks to all the South Rushden officials who gave freely of their time and to Kayt Iles who donated one of her bears to be named. It`s a long old day, and it frequently gets boring so , again thank you for your support. After a number of years under the same format, we may have to change things a little for next year, to freshen things up ,we`ll see.

Cockings the Coup Meister

Our Director of Communications , Dave "Starjump" Cockings, really pulled off a masterstroke by getting Emma Thomas, and cameraman John, from Anglia TV to turn up at training with a cameraman on Saturday (June30) . I question the wisdom of Ms Thomas in getting Dave to demonstrate starjumps to his eager charges, whilst conducting an interview, but he stuck at his task manfully.
Rob D`Amore`s question "What`s the whole point of playing football?
was eloquently fielded by George and Ross (or was it Corey?) although it`s not all about winning chaps!!.
Aiden wo n`t be happy having evidence of having the ball nicked from him by Reece  but Messrs Pitfield/Bates/Pickering sang the praises of their heroes with great confidence and Joe Bunting-Fett  showed some neat  footwork  at the end of the piece.Even I got on there for a brief nano-second.
Apologies to those whose interviews did n`t make the final cut, blame Mr Editor, but thank you all for  agreeing to face the camera and say nice things about the club without me having to resort to bribery!
I`m sure there will be DVDs circulating pretty soon.

What A Great Night!!
Our end of season presentation at Scott Bader at Wollaston was the best yet. We really must give huge thanks to Andy Burgess, formerly  of Rushden & Diamonds and Oxford Utd, who kindly came and shared our special evening, making it even more so when he kindly presented the winners with their trophies.

SILVERWARE !!! SILVERWARE !!

Many congratulations to Ian Fensome and Tony Clampin and their Spartans squad
in winning the Under 9s section of the prestigious ISE LODGE Tournament at the weekend. This is particularly good news, as it`s the first trophy the club has won
since Martin and Daryl`s original squad won the Raunds Under 11s 6 - a -side tournament back in 2002. I`m particularly delighted for the Spartans, as they were so disappointed to miss out on winning the Rushden & Diamonds Xmas Tournament on sudden - death penalties recently. It is ironic then , that they won their final on penalties, which is testament to the squad`s mental strength and determination not to repeat their recent history. This also speaks volumes of their skill, ability and consistency this season.  You can read all about Spartans` triumph at www.southrushdenjfc.org.uk
doubtless on the News page, where there will be some photos of the soggy but happy lads.
They are:
Matthew Fensome, Scott Clampin, Oliver Pendred, Bradley Raines, Kain Devonald, Elliott Spowart, Tom Norton and Jack Duffy.

Each one a credit to their club.

What a Great Week!!!!

On 23rd May we became a Community Interest Company, and on May 29th we became  a Charter Standard Club, indeed a historic week for the club, achieving  two of our three core goals in the space of a week. Many congratulations to everyone at South Rushden for their hard work, a real community effort.

We`re a CIC!!

On 23rd May we became a Community Interest Company (CIC) and will be formally known as South Rushden Junior Football Club Community Interest Company Limited.
Becoming a CIC will open lots of doors to us that previously were closed.  We are now able to tap into a whole new pool of funding opportunities, which will enable us to stick to our core value of providing a football club that is accessible to anyone, and other areas of expertise that will help us grow as a club.
Huge thanks to our Chairman, Keith Golding, and Shoosmiths for providing the legal expertise in guiding us through to the end, particularly, Arfan Sarwar.

The "Other" Important Cup Final Day Game

Saturday May 19th 2007, another glorious day in Chelsea`s history, but I digress, because that morning the Under14s fancied themselves against an Under 8s Dad`s Team.
Favouring a 5 man midfield, with Danny Iles ploughing a lone furrow up front, the 14s held out until Duncan found himself in space to open the scoring late in the half. The second half slipped away from the younger men,(0-5) as youth and speed were undone by experience and know-how, but to their credit, the Under 14s kept plugging away and created a number of chances to be proud of, indeed their whole attitude is a credit to their club.

The Hit-Man :The Final Tally

Now that the Small -Sided Season has finished, we can finally tot -up Matt "Hit-Man" Fensome`s figure.
Weighing in with 41 League Goals Matthew has beaten the  previous SRJFC Club Scoring Record (small-sided) record of 36  set by himself the previous season. Given that there were seven games postponed, and some  of the games saw him in defence, there`s no telling how many he could have scored !!. Very many congratulations Matthew.

(Do n`t rest on your laurels, there`s some useful striking talent revving up in the younger age groups!)

Clampins Working Up A Sweat.

The Clampins in question, are not South Rushden JFC players Scott and Rhys, working hard in training on Saturday mornings, but their parents, Tony and Shelley.  They are both running in the London Marathon in April and hope to raise £5,000 for the Epilepsy Research Foundation in memory of their friends’ daughter Kasia Gonzalez, who died in February, 2005, from a rare form of the condition at the age of seven.
Anyone who wants to support Mr and Mrs Clampin can donate online at:

THEY DID IT !!!

     WE DID IT!!!!!!!!!!

"What an amazing day.

What an experience. Feel immensely proud of ourselves.

Hello everyone and welcome to our fundraising page - the easiest way to sponsor us.

We are running the marathon in memory of our friends daughter, Kasia who died suddenly at the tender age of 7 from a rare and undetected from of epilepsy. Your donations will provide funds for valuable research which may prevent another dreadful tragedy. We both feel honoured and priviledged to be able to do this for her."

High Street South
Many visitors to South Rushden JFC , playing the Under 14s of a Sunday afternoon, use the by-pass (Liberty Way) to join the A6 into town before turning left to go up Wymington Road. They cannot fail to notice the row of derelict buildings on the left which are nothing short of a disgrace. In the past 18 months I`ve contacted the relevant ward`s councillor to see what can be done, to no effect. I then contacted the E. Northants District Council, and after sending numerous e-mails to the department concerned , it seems that there are plans in the pipeline.

88a To 116 High Street South

Outline: Redevelopment of site to residential.
It seems that a planning application has been lodged to redevelop the site with "14 dwellings".

Copy and paste the above into your browser and read for yourself.

There`s every chance that this will go through, so those of you who come to SRJFC from the Barrington Drive, and Greenacre Drive areas of town will no longer have to suffer the affront to their gaze, and most importantly, nor will the good people that live directly opposite.

Children kept indoors after asbestos scare

"We were advised that although the risk was low to keep the children inside"
CHILDREN were forced to stay indoors at their school following a fire at a nearby derelict factory which contained asbestos.
Staff at South End Infants and Junior Schools in Wymington Road, Rushden were advised to keep their pupils inside today as emergency services dealt with the remains of a fire in nearby High Street South.
More than 600 pupils spent their breaktimes inside because of the possible asbestos risk following the blaze.
A spokesman for the infants school said: "We were advised that although the risk was low to keep the children inside.
"It did take a bit longer for some of the children to walk round or drive round to school because of the cordon, but there were no real problems.
"We have been given the all clear now so the children will able to play outside tomorrow."
Staff at the Parklands Medical Centre in Wymington Road, Rushden, were also aware of the fire, but did not have any patients coming in with concerns about the asbestos.
A spokesman said: "Some of us had to go round some of the back streets to get into work, but we had no problems apart from that.

Asbestos clean-up after factory fire

CORDONED OFF – Rushden’s High Street South was shut today while contractors clean-up asbestos contamination after a fire last night

A CLEAN-UP operation was under way today after a fire in a disused factory damaged an asbestos roof.
The blaze broke out in a disused electrical factory in High Street South, Rushden, at about midnight, forcing officers to close the road between the junctions of High Street South and Wymington Road, and the junction with Bedford Road and the A6.

Firefighters from Rushden, Wellingborough and Irthlingborough worked through the night to tackle the blaze in the two-storey building. Workshops behind the building were severely damaged by the fire, but nobody was hurt in the incident.

Officers working near the scene wore protective masks while the area was cleared up by contractors.

Residents living near the area were told to keep their doors and windows shut.

A police spokesman said officers had spoken to affected residents personally.

The spokesman added: “Specialist advice has been sought from the Health Protection Agency and despite the discovery of the asbestos, there is no risk to public health as a result of the fire.”

Schools, doctors’ surgeries and hospitals were also given information so they could reassure concerned members of the public.

Long Live The New Chairman !!
Jan 16 2007
The first meeting of 2007  for the SRJFC Management Commitee confirmed a new Club Chairman.
Step forward Mr Keith Golding .
Currently working on a number of exciting special projects, Keith`s energy, enthusiasm, and  hard  work thus far meant that there was realistically only one person to asume the mantle, indeed the vote was unanimous, such is the level of respect amongst the Committee.
Congratulations Keith, I`m sure that under your Chairmanship, the club will continue to go from strength to strength.

NEW WEBSITE LAUNCHED !!!

Your new webmaster writes ....

South Rushden Junior Football club are pleased to announce that their new website is up and running at can be found at www.southrushdenjfc.org.uk.

Club webmaster David Cockings explained how they got here and the treats visitors could expect.

"As a club we've had a web presence for a long time now and this being our fifth season we felt the time was right to have our own domain and launch a new, fresh website.  We've recently embraced on-line shopping by signing up with referal site buy.at and launching our own on-line club shop, these enterprises fit nicely into our plans to increase our profile in the area.

On the site you will be able to catch up with all the results from our teams, match reports and upcoming fixtures.  We will also promote our generous sponsors and have details on NFA Courses.  You can currently download desktop backgrounds and we will be developing the interactive area with the addition of a forum.

The website will remain very much a part of the club and will hopefully be a window through which we can attract new players and sponsors and generally show anyone interested what a well run and friendly club South Rushden is.  To make the website the best it can be I welcome contributions from anyone in the club.  Suggestions for improvements and additions are also welcome, email me webmaster@southrushdenjfc.org.uk.

On the subject of email if you would like to help promote the club by having your own southrushdenjfc.org.uk email address then just pick up a form in the Green Room, fill it in, hand it back and it will be done."

Remember the address www.southrushdenjfc.org.uk

Your  old webmaster(is that what I was?) writes.....

By this time next week, you`ll all be enjoying the benefits of a bright, fresh new club website, courtesy of the club web guru, David Cockings. Given that Dave has worked so hard to bring the club to the forefront of e- commerce amongst other clubs at our level, and indeed above, with the advent of the Web shop and the Club shop, I felt that it was only right and proper that Dave should have the opportunity to extend his talents into this area.

I`ve always maintained that I would stand aside, if we were fortunate to have a professional at the club who could do a better job, so I am.

This is a very important position within the club, as it is a public window through which others judge us, potential new players, sponsors etc so you could call it “the window to our soul”.

The other reason is that the Bravehost site is a freebie, and as the traffic increases, the limits of the bandwidth are being tested, especially on popular days, eg Mondays, leading to the site being down. We were at a point where, with the advent of the web shop and the club shop, it was likely that we would have to upgrade and consequently start paying for it. Rather than doing this, it was decided that for a similar outlay, we could own our own domain name and have lots of srjfc e-mail addresses as well, and generally upgrade the size and scope of the site, ready for any further developments. The next level so to speak.

I`ve really enjoyed being club webmaster, it`s a great way of keeping a finger on the pulse of the club, but as my kids get more homework and need the access to the PC, I find myself having less and less time on the computer and would consequently not be able to give as much time to the site as I would like to, or the site deserves.

I shall keep the Bravehost site “live” and link it to the new site, which is the place to go for all your up-to-the-minute news concerning matches, scores and reports. The current site will be more of an archive / fan site with other bits and bobs loosely to do with the club and footy in general on a less regular basis.

I wish David all the best on his new position, and trust that you will all help to fulfil the potential of the site by using the web shop and the Club shop, after all Christmas is only a few weeks away (oo-er).

Nov 12
Not much to write home about this week sadly, with only one win in five. Step forward the Spartans who despatched Vicarage Farm Claret to the tune of 5-1 with goals from Devonald, Raines, Spowart and a return to scoring form with a brace from Matthew Fensome. The 14s went close with a  narrow 1-0 away defeat  at Kettering Generals, but our remaining teams  created  plenty of chances, scored a few goals, but conceded far too many. There`s always this coming week of course.

Nov 5
The seasonable fireworks in the skies, and streets of Rushden town(mainly the streets by the sound of it) were sadly not evident on the pitches where the Navy and Scarlet were plying their trade on Sunday. The 14s lost narrowly 2-1 in the last minutes of the game at SouthEnd against Danesholme Vikings. The visitors have won all five of their games so far, so are evidently class opposition, so our lads can`t be too downhearted at the result, but should be encouraged that they gave them a bit of a game. They`re down to fourth in the table but with some games in hand over some above.Congratulations to Matt Baxter for his first goal of the season, beamed in from outside the box.Your father is very proud of you , Matthew.
The 10s and Sharks were both on the wrong end of a 5-0 scoreline, and even the Spartans failed to win, having to settle for a share of the spoils in a six goal thriller against VicFarm Blue. Messrs. Clampin and Spowart were on target again, the other goal being scored by our goalkeeper ! Tom Norton, his second of the season.!!
The Jets had a week off, so it was left to the Trojans to raise the flag with a 1-0 win over Wellingborough Town , with a goal courtesy of Jake Lake, sorry, Jack Lake.(Just teasin`n ya Jack) his tenth of the season.

What I Did On Sunday
by Daryl Chambers aged forty-harumph and three quarters

Having awoken to a gloriously unseasonable Sunday morning, and with the prospect of my tribe being away in Milton Keynes, I decided to catch as many Navy and Scarlet games as poss. I did n`t want to miss the Spartans –v- Trojans clash, so hot-footed it up to Grammarians, the coldest place on earth at the best of times, but this morning, bathed in Autumnal sunshine. I watched Higham and Earls Barton kick lumps out of each other, and lost count of how many goals Higham scored in the end. They did n`t need to be quite so physical, given the skilful nature of a couple of their players.

On to the main event, and the Trojans started very well , holding their own until quite late in the first half. Perhaps the change in the clocks subdued the Spartans a bit, but  soon the Hit Man was scoring his 20th of the season. In truth, Tom and Heather positioned themselves very well, but Matt has a way of getting himself  into the right position at the right time and deciding what he`ll do with the ball before he gets it. His shot was away as Tom and Heather combined to try and stop him , but the net bulged and Matt was off and celebrating.  The Spartans played some nice football and Scott Clampin helped himself to a goal after a skilful and mazy run. However, no team upholds the club motto  “Resolute in Adversity” more than the Trojans, and they kept at it, with Nathan and Jack Lake exchanging passes in midfield  and threatening to score.

The Spartans were home and dry, and whether it was Kain or Jack in defence, Tom had little to trouble him. It`s not really any wonder that the Spartans have only lost once this season, with a mean defence and prolific scoring. The top teams in this league take their chances ruthlessly and although the Trojans did n`t make many mistakes, they payed the price. The Hitman had to be content with a brace this week , although he spurned a glorious chance of a hat-trick when the Trojan defence thoughtlessly left him on his own on the back post, and his rasping shot bore into the framework of the goal. It`s only the end  of October and Matt has already set about re-writing the club record books  with 21 goals, including 5 hat-tricks, which is impressive at any level.

Once this game finished, I trotted over to see the U10s play Earls Barton Green . There must be something in the water in Earls Barton  as this lot was as physical as their Under 9s. However, they showed a great deal of skill with two quick goals which might have finished off many other teams . The 10s are n`t just another team, and Callum and Ashley scored a pair of well taken goals to level the score. Earls Barton looked a bit shocked and were saved by the half time whistle. They came out, probably after a bit of the hair-dryer treatment, and Cappy was kept very busy from then on. He had an excellent game despite the scoreline. Callum`s run was halted by a rather rough tackle that forced his substitution, and Alex Pinnock gained some revenge for his stricken comrade by scoring from the resulting free kick. A 4-3 defeat, but much to be encouraged about.

By the afternoon, the sun was still shining, so a quick trip to exotic Ringstead to watch the U14s. Despite their current record, going to a place like Ringstead is frought with peril, and I think our lads felt it was going to be a comfortable game on a nice warm Sunday afternoon. Consequently, some played like they were still in their pyjamas, and come the end of the half, they were a goal down to the team that wanted it more. Their , shall we say, “direct “ style of play troubled our defence alarmingly in the first half, because it largely by-passed the midfield and aimed for the target man. The South clawed their way back into the game after a Russ Baxter mauling at the interval, and the incessant running of Danny Iles and Jack Pickard threatened to bring us some joy. Cometh the hour, cometh the man. Jonathan Morgan . Power, pace, precision , what more is there?? His gloriously taken brace sent my mind racing back to Shane Smith`s finishing prowess in front of goal when he played for us as a thirteen year old. Pure class, and Johnny is bigger , quicker and stronger than he was !!!

We should have won more comfortably, but for some , how can I put this? “contentious” linesmanship. One of the two goals that was disallowed, the one in the second half, was so sumptuous in it`s passing and movement that I was moved to tears at the beauty of it and then the unfairness of the decision. How can something so beautiful be destroyed by the wave of a flag ???

So, a mixed day really, but enjoyable nonetheless. The hard work on Saturday morning is obviously paying off on Sundays and there is no better way of raising the profile of the club by producing the results on the pitch. It is gratifying to note that although barely any of the coaches will have seen the other age groups play on a Sunday, we seem to have developed a club style. Passing and movement, beloved by connoisseurs of the game the world over, and I for one am delighted. The club is very lucky to have such excellent coaches , well done and thank you.

AGE-OLD PROBLEM

MUD

As the weather gets wetter, so the pitch at Southend will get muddier. Consequently, the playground and the car-park will get chunks of mud from players` and coaches` boots .
It is extremely important that we maintain our good relationship with the school for the implementation of our future plans , and this is in jeopardy if we leave the place in a mess.
Can I ask you, once training has  finished to

STAY OFF THE PLAYGROUND
If you must clean your boots before you leave

USE THE GRASS,
NOT  THE
 CAR-PARK

I`d quite like to leave soon after everyone else , but I ca n`t if I have to spend 30 minutes plus, clearing up afterwards.
Your co-operation will be most appreciated.

New Link Added

Have a look at the links section, click on ex-player site, and behold, you get to the site of Adam Kirkup. He played in the club`s very first squad, scored the club`s first ever goal against Bedford Pumas when we played at Whitefriars, and captained the side in the club`s finest moment, the Under 14s Cup Final appearance in 2005. The Kirkups were instrumental in the club`s early days, when Nicola was the club`s first treasurer and Andy was the first chairman, later to manage the succesful Under 14s side. The family connection continues with Adam`s cousin Jack Lake , currently making a name for himself with the Trojans. You may have seen Adam when he came to visit training this week. He was impressed the way the club has moved forward since he last played for South Rushden, so that`s thanks to all of you.  Enjoy.

NEW CLUB SHOP OPEN

South Rushden JFC are pleased to announce that they have opened a webshop in conjunction with Spreadshirt, a leading on-line retailer.

Sponsorship Co-ordinator David Cockings explained all about it.

“We have been getting request from parents for SRJFC clothing and other items and I have been investigating the possibility of us being able to supply it.  Most of the suppliers that I talked to were happy to accommodate us, but they wanted a minimum order of 25 or 50 pieces, unfortunately for a club of our size we just couldn't commit to that level of outlay with no guarantee of selling all the items.”

“I was then directed to Spreadshirt by a friend who runs a Junior Club in Doncaster, he had recently set up a Spreadshirt shop and was pleased by the response of the club members to both the quality of the products and the range they offered.”

“I looked at Spreadshirt for South Rushden and as far as I could see it was a no-lose situation, we could provide what we had been asked for and parents and players could buy knowing they were getting a quality product.”

“You can view the range of products we have decided on a start, but if anyone as any ideas or would like different products added then please let anyone of the Management Team know and we will do our best to make them available for you.”

“We understand that some of the items may seem expensive compared to High Street prices but I would remind everyone that these are items that have been created especially for us and are produced as when an order is received, hopefully the quality of the items and the chance for everyone to show their support for the Navy and Scarlet is worth a little bit extra, and of course all purchases will help the club to strengthen.”

“We will shortly be having a small range of the items in the Green Room so any parents interested can have a look and make a balanced decision.  Thank you all once again for your support”

22 OCT
A great day for the South Rushden family with 5 wins and a draw.
An amazing 33 goals was plundered with the Spartans sticking it to Wellingborough by 10-0. Naturally, Matt Fensome scored 5 of those, with Bradley Raines and Elliott Spowart bagging a brace each and Scott Clampin adding the single.

Our most senior team, the U14s entertained another Wellingborough team, Grammarians Youth, and despite the miserable weather, were always in control. Alex Morris led the way with a hat-trick, whilst Alex MacIntosh bagged a brace and Tom Noble , Danny Iles added to their totals with a strike each. Newcomer Jack Pickard capped an impressive display with his first goal for the club in the dying moments of the game. This was an impressive team display of precision passing and running, and in truth, they could and should have scored many more.
The Jets bagged another six goals this week, the Tigers of Raunds being on the wrong end this time. Ed Bates and Adam Pitfield scored a brace each, with Ollie Davis adding one, and recent recruit, Matthew Downs scored his first goal for the club.
The Sharks overturned their defeat of last week  with a 4-2 win over Irchester Romans. Connor Groves and Harry Milward bagging a brace each.
The 10s came from a goal down against Wollaston Vics before Callum Monaghan and Matthew Wright`s penalty  brought home the bacon.
The Trojans shared six goals with Raunds Tigers, with Jack Lake scoring a brace and an "own" completing the scoring.
It was indeed a day to savour.Well done to all the squad`s players and coaches. There ca n`t be a better way to raise the profile of the club than a series of excellent results on the pitch.

League Cup 2nd Round Draw

Ise Lodge Eagles
-v-
SOUTH RUSHDEN
November 26th 14:00hrs

15 OCT
This weeks clashes against Irchester Romans saw wins for the U9 Trojans ,already exceeding last season`s total, with a Jack Lake strike to take the honours, whilst the U8 Jets had six different players score in their 6-0 win. Elsewhere the Spartans kept up their scoring record with an 8-0 mauling (sorry) of Raunds Tigers.

08 Oct
Our own beloved Spartans triumphed emphatically in the Spartans v Romans clash against our near neighbours from Irchester. Winning 6-1, Bradley Raines netted his second hat-trick of the season, well done Brad, with also a brace from Oliver Pendered (congratulations) and, inevitably, Matt Fensome scoring his 11th of the season.
At Whitworths, there was more action in the final moments of the Jets -v- Higham clash than the entire England -Macedonia game (the passing was better too). Jets almost squandered a 4-2 lead, and were pulled back to 4 all in the dying moments. Adam Pitfield, fresh from a stint in goal, was brought out on pitch and found himself free in front of goal. His shot was saved, fumbled and then finally spilled into the net, to ensure his side`s  last gasp win.

The Sharks were up against a big strong Doddington side, up against being the operative phrase. Despite going down early to a goal, Aaron Leslie was in inspired form , as was his defence, who repelled the waves of Doddington attacks.  Inevitably,  changes had to be made due to the  fatigue  of the  players, and  the well organised  Doddington side took advantage of the "settling in" period and increased their lead.  Despite the score, Aaron  was in spectacular  form  and learned  a great deal from the game.  Will Bates chase back the length of the field to put in a successful tackle, Nathan Patrick threw himself in front of a goal-bound shot to foil another Doddington goal. With spirit and commitment like that the future can only be encouraging.

NEW SPONSOR ON BOARD

The U14S have a new sponsor for their much needed kit.
Adrian House of PW House Jewellers in the High Street, has agreed to fund the new kit. Adrian has a history of philanthropy towards local sports teams, Rushden & Diamonds included, so we are delighted to receive Adrian`s patronage. Many thanks

TROJANS VICTORIOUS !!!!!

History is made !!!
The promise and improvement shown at the end of last season, the Trojan`s first, and the beginning of this, has been fulfilled, and how !!
Trojan`s first win was a beaut, an 8-0 in over Gt Doddington White,
with Jack Lake netting four, and Ryan Parker netting his first goals for the club with a hat-trick. Nathan Doherty added his first goal for the club.
Many congratulations to Keith Parker and Rob Lewis and all their squad. Well done.

24 Sep

The six South Rushden teams had a mixed fortunes this week, but four wins out of six is very encouraging.  At Whitworths , the Pickering – Lake partnership continues collecting goals, Reece Pickering snaffling a brace whilst Sam Lake added the other in a 3-1 over Grammarians Youth. The improving Sharks found it tough this week, going down 2-0 against a useful Volta Rockets side.

Over the other side of town on the Sywell Road, it was a South –v- Doddington series of 2 , with the Trojans struggling against  a big, aggressive Greens outfit that scored 5 without reply. However, the Spartans were in record breaking mood in the rain. Their 16-0 win against Gt Doddington Whites is now the club`s record winning score, beating the Under 13s side of season 2003-4. Their 14-1 beating of Thrapston Youth(A) in Division 2( 4 Jan 2004) still remains the full-sided record however. Both Scott Clampin and Matt “Hitman” Fensome broke the “Most Goals in A Game” when they recorded seven and six goals respectively, All the scorers in the game recorded at least  one hat-trick, Bradley Raines getting the other.

At the same venue, the Under 10s reversed their recent fortunes against a previously unbeaten Raunds Tigers Milan outfit to the tune of 5-1 with Alexander Pinnock netting a brace, and singles from “Big Al”Golding, Ashley Wooton and Callum Monaghan. Martin and Alan`s arduous training regime on Saturday morning obviously did the trick.

In the world of 11 a -side football, the under 14s entertained Finedon Vics at Southend , and claimed all three points with a 4-3 victory. The sixth hat-trick of the day was provided by one of the club`s longest serving players, step forward Alex Morris. Alex was at the club from a very early age and patiently waited for enough players of his age to be recruited to field a team. Ian and Steve`s Under11s squad, which disbanded the following season due to a lack of players. Consequently, Alex was at Under 12 able to play “a year up” there being a two year age band from this age onwards. He had an excellent season last year, so I`m particularly pleased that one of the club`s most loyal players has bagged himself a hat-trick. I must n`t forget
